What PoolMinder stores

PoolMinder keeps the information you enter so it can remind you what is due. That includes:

  • The pools and hot tubs you set up, and whatever you named them
  • The maintenance tasks you track and how often each should happen
  • Maintenance events you log, with the date each one was recorded
  • App settings and preferences

All of it is written to the app's storage on your device. We do not operate a server for PoolMinder and we hold no copy of your maintenance log — there is no account for us to look up.

iCloud and device backups

PoolMinder's data lives in on-device storage. If you have iOS device backup turned on, that storage is included in your device's backup the same way other apps' data is. Those backups sit in your own Apple account under Apple's terms and encryption — we cannot read them, and we are not told they exist. You can review what is being backed up in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, in iCloud.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, PoolMinder asks iOS to schedule reminders locally, based on the intervals you set. There is no push server behind this: no device token is sent to us, and nothing about what you are being reminded of ever leaves your phone. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and PoolMinder keeps working as a log without them.

Amazon links and affiliate disclosure

PoolMinder links to chemicals, filters, and other supplies on Amazon. Second Act Software participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. Those links carry our associate tag, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases, at no additional cost to you.

Tapping one of these links takes you to Amazon. From that point your visit is between you and Amazon: they can see that you arrived through our associate tag, and they collect whatever their own policies describe. That handling is governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice, not this one.

What we receive back from Amazon is an aggregate commission report: counts of clicks and of items ordered. It does not identify you, and it does not tell us what any individual person bought. PoolMinder sends Amazon nothing about your pools, your tasks, or your maintenance history.

App Store and Apple analytics

PoolMinder contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We have not embedded anything that reports your usage to us or to anyone else.

Apple provides developers with aggregated App Analytics and crash reports for their own apps, and may include your device in that aggregate only if you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, in Analytics & Improvements. That data is aggregated by Apple before we see it and does not identify you. You can change that setting at any time, and your choice does not affect how PoolMinder works.

What PoolMinder does not do

  • No account creation, and no name or email address collected
  • No location tracking, camera access, or microphone access
  • No contacts, health, or financial data
  • No advertising SDK and no ads inside the app
  • No tracking across other companies' apps and websites, so PoolMinder never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission
  • No selling or sharing of personal information, ever

Children's privacy

PoolMinder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app requires no account and asks for no personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights and your control

Because your data stays on your device, most control is directly in your hands: delete individual entries in the app, or delete PoolMinder to remove its local data from your device. If you keep device backups, remove the backup as well to clear the copy held in your Apple account.

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the UK, and the CCPA in California — you may have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to certain processing. In practice we hold no personal information from PoolMinder, so there is generally nothing for us to return or erase. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

To make a request, email support@secondactsoftware.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Changes to this policy

PoolMinder is still in development, and we may update this policy as it ships and evolves. If we add anything that changes what leaves your device, we will describe it here and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
